This video promo for Google Fiber was finally released today along with the details of the new service which was first hyped back in 2010.
Starting in Kansas City, select residents will be able to enjoy both HDTV channels and high-speed internet “100x faster than what most Americans have today.”
The full service costs $130/month and includes Gigabit Internet (128mb a sec speeds and and a 1TB of cloud storage) and Google Fiber TV (hundreds of on demand shows and channels, 2TB of DVR storage, and the new Nexus 7 Tablet as a remote).
If you’re on a budget and are content with your average speeds, Google Fiber is also offering 5mbps speeds for a one-time fee of $300 for 7 years. After that the service is “free”. Do the math and that comes out to $3.57 a month- still a great deal.
The service is only available in your city if enough people pre-register @ http://fiber.google.com/cities/
