Jamie Nared here is only 12 years old, yet she is over 6 feet tall and consistently, to put it lightly, whoops the asses of other players her age.
She doesn’t keep track of her records, but she averages an amazing 30 points a game.
At first, I agreed with Jamie’s father on her issue about getting banned. Why shouldn’t she be allowed to play with other’s her age? But after a bit more thinking, I sided with the opposing parents.
Since HOOPS is run privately, they can make their own rules. Most 12 year old girls aren’t 6 feet tall so, of course, HOOPS didn’t make their rules with Jamie in mind. Obviously, any player that a foot taller than you can play better.
If I were her father and I really wanted my daughter to be challenged, I’d sign her up to play with 14 year olds. Then we’ll see if it really is skill and not just height that is making her win.
