While millions of people have read The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings, the world of J.R.R. Tolkien is a lot more epic than either of those books suggests.
This video explores the origins of Middle-Earth, acting as a kind of primer to the world inhabited by Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, Orcs, and many other species.
While this does a fantastic job of explaining the very basics of the Tolkien universe, there is so much more included in The Silmarillion, a book published after Tolkien’s death.
I urge anyone who loves The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings to get hold of a copy of The Silmarillion. It’s heavy going, but its an incredible amount of background to the more famous works.
