The British Isles is only a small place. It’s the equivalent of the state of Texas, which is bonkers seeing as the UK once owned the U.S. and most of the rest of the world.
And yet despite this small size the British Isles has a wide mix of accents, with different regions developing their own accents over generations.

I quite like uplifting and quirky accent you hear in the north-east of England, but am not so keen on the Liverpool and Birmingham accents, but everyone has a different opinion on these things.
