Do I think Accidental Racist is a good song? No, it’s frankly terrible, with country and rap really not mixing well. But its heart is in the right place.
I don’t think the pair set out to shock, but some of the lyrics were always going to be controversial. However, if the intention was to spark a debate then Accidental Racist is a huge hit.
Racism in all its forms is bad. What Brad Paisley and LL Cool J are saying is try to put the past to one side and focus on living together in the present. Which is hardly a bad thing, is it?
