Today is National Hug Day, a pointless, made-up day if ever I heard it. However, everybody likes hugging, don’t they? So, it’s difficult to be too harsh on this occasion.
This video celebrates National Hug Day by showing people from Edgar’s Mission, a not-for-profit farm sanctuary in Australia, hugging animals.
Do the animals actually want to be hugged? I’m not convinced they do. What they really want is feeding, but if it makes those running the place feel better then hug them instead. I guess.
The dog clearly loved its hug, but then that’s the difference between domesticated pets and farm animals. As for those pigs… they really just wanted their bellies rubbing.
