A commercial airline flight travelling between Indonesia and Singapore has gone missing off the coast of Borneo. A total of 162 people were on board, and the authorities have no idea what happened to the plane.
Flight QZ8501 to Singapore disappeared from radar screens around 40 minutes after take-off. Searchers stopped looking for evidence of a crash 12 hours later due to failing light.
This is the second plane to go missing in under a year, with a Malaysia Airlines flight disappearing in strange circumstances nine months ago.
There may be a very simple explanation for this incident, with the plane having crashed into the ocean. But as with the previous incident, if no debris is found it all looks very suspect.
