Web TV Hub has long been fascinated by the work of Phil Hansen. While most artists are content using paints or pencils, he’d rather create works with matchsticks, words, or teriyaki sauce.
His chosen medium here is the humble Oreo cookie. He scrapes and smears the cookie cream to create this massive image of a Buddhist monk.
For all you statistics nerds, this work took 20 hours and 1,887 Oreos. It measures a whopping 10 feet wide and eight feet tall.
In typical Phil Hansen style, once he’s done he nonchalantly throws the work in the bin. I’m sure that’s a statement about the transient nature of art, but I can’t help thinking those cookies deserved eating.
