The Slow Mo Guys are back, this time showing what happens, in slow-motion of course, when someone gets a champagne cork in the face. Apart from that they get a little annoyed, obviously.
As fun as it is (for us, not the victim) seeing someone get hit in the face with a flying champagne cork, the most interesting part of this video is how it shows the delay between something happening and our brain reacting to it.
Every time the cork hits the side of his face there is a split moment (in real time) when there is no reaction. His brain has to register the pain and then send the message back to his muscles to move away from the source.
It makes you realize what pain is. That is nothing to do with the flesh and everything to do with what your brain is telling you to feel. Which I personally find fascinating.
