Anyone who has ever watched a thunderstorm from their window will know how awesome they can be. Awesome but scary, in all honesty.
However, I have never seen lightning destroy something as solid as a telegraph pole. Which is exactly what happens in this video supposedly shot from the dashcam of a car.
Details surrounding this video are thin on the ground, but it looks like it shows lightning hitting a telegraph pole and exploding it into lots of little pieces.
There are claims it’s a fake, but I can’t see how. As for an explanation, either the telegraph pole was saturated with water, or it had metal running through it. Hence the conductivity.
Either way, it’s awesome.
