Video game-streaming service Twitch has been acquired by Amazon.com for just under $1 billion. Google was expected to buy Twitch, but it seems the online retailer beat the search giant to it.
Francis, the rent-a-quote YouTube star, has lots to say on the subject. But then he is on Twitch as well as YouTube, so he has a vested interest.
Twitch, for the uninitiated, is a service which lest gamers stream footage of them playing video games. It sounds dull, but it’s actually quite intoxicating when you get a great gamer playing a great game.
It made sense for Google, which already owns YouTube, to buy Twitch, but analysts are having a tougher time figuring out why Amazon would buy Twitch. I guess all will be revealed at a later date.
