I’m a huge fan of Dan Brown’s books – they’re fast-paced, exciting, and full of page-turning plot twists. Unfortunately, Hollywood has seen fit to take Brown’s source material and concoct crap out of it.
The movie version of The Da Vinci Code really wasn’t a patch on the movie. Can Angels and Demons do any better? Yes, it is better but it’s still not great. This review is a little harsh for my liking but the man makes some good points.
The problem with The Da Vinci Code movie was it stuck to close to the book, and that didn’t make for a particularly interesting story. With Angels and Demons the opposite is true, with Ron Howard and co. deviating away from the novel substantially.
Angels and Demons works much better as a movie but anyone who has read the book will surely be disappointed. It’s not good when I’m sitting in the cinema thinking I could have done a better job. But I could have.
