This video shows Apple’s advertising effort for the holidays. Unsurprisingly, it features a host of Apple products front and center, with a generous dollop of schmaltz thrown in for good measure.
What we see is a teenage girl finding a vinyl recording her grandmother made in the olden days. She’s singing Love Is Here To Stay to her husband, who cannot be there for the holidays for some strange reason.
The girl takes this recording and ruins it by adding her own instrumentation, delivering it to her grandmother on an iPad. Cue the tears.
Being a cynical old fart, I like to imagine she’s crying not from nostalgia but from the mess her granddaughter made of her long-lost vinyl. The next scene is her shouting obscenities.
