Today is April 1, otherwise known as April Fool’s Day. the Web is absolutely awash with April Fool’s Day pranks, as it is each and every year.
But something I haven’t seen previously is April Fool’s day recipes. I mean, food is food, right? Wrong, as one foodstuff can be cleverly disguised as another with the right ingredients and a little bit of knowhow.
This video shows Food Network magazine editor Maile Carpenter (I don’t think her name is an April Fool, but don’t quote me on it) showing off some desserts which have been made to look like well-known main courses.
These all work extremely well, although some better than others. I don’t think I would spot the fried ice cream pretending to be crab cakes. But the sushi is a little easier to fathom.
Try these on your family and friends, if you have confidence that they won’t get upset at being hoodwinked.
