After more than two weeks of waiting, Australia finally has a new prime minister, one which looks a lot like the old prime minister. The result is still a historic one for Oz though, as Julia Gillard has become the first female elected to the top job.
Not that the public had a lot to do with the final outcome in the end. After the voters failed to give either major party enough votes to form government, the decision was left to Greens and independent senators.
Julia Gillard and the Labor party won the vote by the narrowest of margins, giving Australia its first federal minority government in 70 years.
