This is a very funny spoof video of Avril Lavigne’s hit song ‘Girlfriend’ done by a bunch of guys for CollegeHumor.
The level of detail and thought they’ve put in to the video and re-recording of the song is excellent, and in my opinion it’s even better than the Avril Lavigne original!
I used to prefer Avril when she was going through her faux skater punk days, with an almost Emo Pop sound, but I suppose she’s a bit older now and that wouldn’t work.
This does however mean, she’s ripe to have her new sound taken the piss out of, and this is a great example of some people doing just that.
I love the start of the video when they are all sitting around talking about guy stuff, until the peace is broken by one wanting to invite his girlfriend along.
The guys come across in a very camp manner, but I suppose with the subject matter as it is, that couldn’t really be helped.
This is a very cool and very funny spoof, and I now want the same group of guys to try their hand at some more songs… Rihanna anybody?
