At WWDC 2017, Apple announced the HomePod. This is Apple’s long-rumored, and much-anticipated smart speaker designed to compete with the Amazon Echo and Google Home.
The Apple HomePod is exactly what you’d expect it to be: a table-mounted circular speaker which can play music, answer questions, deliver the news headlines, and tell you sports scores.
Essentially, it’s exactly the same as the aforementioned Echo and Home. Except, this being Apple, the HomePod is a lot more expensive at $350.
Apple used to innovate at every step, but Cupertino now seems content copying other companies’ bright ideas. Where’s Steve Jobs when you need him?
