Another day, another Gangnam Style video. But this one is more than worth watching, as it shows hundreds of prisoners performing the Psy hit. And doing a really good job of it too.
You may recognize the exercise yard and the distinctive uniforms. That’s because this is the same prison – Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) in the Philippines – responsible for the viral version of Thriller.
This may not be as good as the Michael Jackson cover that hit big in 2007, but it’s still thoroughly entertaining. It’s strange to be watching maximum security prisoners dancing in their uniforms, but perhaps that’s the charm of it all.
The prisoners are encouraged to take part in these performances to keep them physically and mentally fit. And it sure seems like a better idea than having them break rocks or something similarly pointless.
