Some people are so gullible. This video shows a guy in a robot suit at the 2009 Dubai Gitex technology week exhibition. Not only are some of the people in Dubai taken in, but so are some of the YouTube commenters! Muppets.
This is pretty cool, with samples taken from songs and movies used as the speech for the robot. Except it isn’t a robot, it’s a guy in a suit pretending to be a robot. And doing a pretty good job of it.
It’s still entertaining, of course, but let’s not kid ourselves that this is some kind of machine. The guy’s head is at the robot’s shoulder height, and you can see the arms and legs shrouded in black.
If anyone still thinks this is a working robot then if you see it on display do something shocking or unexpected and see what happens. It’s a guy in a suit so it’ll flinch – gullibility cured.
