Battle: Los Angeles is out on DVD this week in the U.S. My advice? Don’t buy it. Or if you do, watch it with the volume switched to mute… you won’t miss much.
The trailer for Battle: Los Angeles sold the film to me, and I duly went along to see it at the movie theater. Big mistake. Sure, the action is pure eye candy, with some amazing special effects. But that script, oh that hateful script.
It’s crass, cheesy, cliche, nationalist nonsense of the highest order. If the Battle: Los Angeles script doesn’t make you cringe on at least a few separate occasions then you have to question your taste in movies.
What The Flick?! is rapidly becoming my favorite source for video reviews, because rather than have one lone critic giving his verdict it features several arguing over the positives and negatives. And as all art is subjective, this is great.
It helps that the majority usually agree with what I think of the films they’re discussing.
