This video features the trailer for Beach Blanket Bingo, a 1965 movie starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. It’s kicking off a beach-themed movie marathon tonight on Turner Classic Movies.
Beach Blanket Bingo has a bizarre plot that really doesn’t bear explaining. Suffice to say, if you like your movies cheap and cheesy, and punctuated by regular bursts of singing and dancing, you’ll enjoy it.
Is it me or does this feel like it’s from another world as well as another time? Everything on display, from the style of the trailer to the look and feel of the movie itself just feel so alien.
I know Beach Blanket Bingo was released 45 years ago, but even that length of time doesn’t explain how much things have changed. Sadly, part of me wishes we were back in the 1950s or 60s, because life seemed much simpler.
