To celebrate her 35th birthday, Beyonce released the music video for Hold Up, which Rolling Stone calls “a standout from the singer’s Lemonade”.
Now, either I’m very old and therefore unable to understand modern music, or this is a classic case of the emperor’s new clothes.
Hold Up seems to comprise of nothing more than the same lines repeated over and over again. Some of the lines are clearly stolen from other tracks, and the music itself is nothing but a sample.
I’m pretty sure I have written better songs than Hold Up while standing in the shower lathered from head to toe in soap suds. So, I guess I’m a legend too.
