Bill Maher is usually a guy I look up to when it comes to being a skeptic. His film Religious was a great documentary in my opinion. Still, it turns out that someone who questions organized religion doesn’t necessarily question the US government on piracy issues.
I’m glad the guests in this clip were there to set him straight.
While he admits to not knowing all the facts when it comes to the SOPA bill, I’m surprised he has such a strong opinion about opposing it. Sure, it’s perfectly reasonable to get upset about losing money on a film you made, but you have to also take into account that the industry is changing.
Oh, Bill, can’t you see that making money off of DVD sales is a dying way of generating revenue from movies? Next time come up with a better marketing and distribution strategy that embraces new technology.
