As the economy continues to suffer, it is becoming more apparent that it isn’t just the average Joe being affected. In fact, this year marks the first time since 2003 that the number of billionaires has dwindled.
Isn’t it nice to know that both the richer are getting “poorer” and the poor are getting poorer?
As Anthony Mason points out, the average billionaire has lost $900 million, or 25% of their overall wealth just in the last year. Instead of 1,125 billionaires, there are only 793 currently in the entire world.
Although it is surprising to find out that 2/3 of billionaires are self-made, I can’t help but disagree with the statement that “when they get richer, we do.” The majority of the people working for these billionaires aren’t getting richer, but living paycheck to paycheck.
