In both life and death, Bruce Lee has inspired many people to take up martial arts. He was a great man, a great martial artist, and a pretty good actor to boot.
Given Bruce Lee’s enduring popularity, it’s not surprising that filmmakers are keen to write him into their movies. Which is the case with Birth of the Dragon.
Birth of the Dragon tells a fictionalized account of Lee’s rise to fame in San Francisco. Lee was a martial arts instructor, and his willingness to teach the craft to Americans angered some people.
This is a movie that could go either way, and, according to Jeremy Jahns, Birth of the Dragon really isn’t great. In fact, it’s pretty damn boring.
