Brainiac Explosion Vid | Richard Hammond Heats Champagne in Microwave

“We do these experiments so you don’t have to.”

Yes, because blowing up a bottle of champagne by heating it up in a microwave was the next thing on my to-do list.

I have to admit, it is a pretty awesome explosion. I didn’t expect that kind of force from a bottle of champagne, even if the stuff is bubbly.

I wonder if anyone has accidentally damaged their car or whatnot by leaving a bottle of champagne in there on a hot day. Or does champagne need a more concentrated level of heat that can only be provided by a microwave (or oven, or the like).
