Diana Nyad has completed her marathon swim between the coasts of Cuba and the United States, reaching the Florida Keys on Monday afternoon (Sept. 2).
This video shows the 64-year-old swimmer, athlete, and journalist reaching the end of her epic journey, with the 53-hour swim clearly taking its toll on her both physically and mentally.
I’m torn with stuff like this. A part of me applauds the effort, but another part wonders why anyone bothers doing these utterly pointless endeavors.
Still, Nyad will go down in history as the first person to achieve the seemingly impossible. Which is, I guess, all she really wanted at the end of the day.
