After what seems like endless days of protesting, Hosni Mubarak has finally stepped down as president of Egypt. The reaction by the majority of the people in Egypt is, of course, one of immense joy.
Sure, the 30 year-long rule has finally ended, but who is really left in charge?
If you ask me, politicians have less control than the corporations and financiers that back them. Likewise, it’s easy to see why some people are saying that the US is in bed with the Egyptian army simply because the US government has pumped so much money into them.
As for having a real democracy at this state, Egypt has nothing but a vision of one. Of course, the US would love for every country in the world to adopt a democratic government, but in reality Egypt itself needs it’s own proper structure.
