The latest Google Doodle pays tribute to Lotte Reiniger, a true innovator in the world of animation.
Google paid tribute to Reiniger in the only fitting way, with an animated short using the silhouette technique pioneered by Reiniger.
Reiniger made what’s widely considered to be the first full-length animated feature film, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, which was was released in 1926.
For those keeping count, this was eight years before Walt Disney released Snow White and the Seven Dwarves in 1934. Which means Reiniger is a true pioneer who has inspired countless filmmakers in the years that have passed since.
