With her grandmother Margaret Johnson – 1956 Melbourne Olympics long jump competitor – as an inspiration, Bronte hopes to make both her and her country proud in Beijing this year. She will be competing in three events.
She may confess to being a nervous competitor, but you wouldn’t know that by watching Bronte Barratt swim.
Bronte has been a regular Australian team member since she was 16 and qualified for the Olympics by winning the 200m free.
While she had disappointing results in the 2007 World Championships, she broke a 29-year national record later that year, getting her back into the good graces of the team.
