Continental Airlines flight 3407 crashed into a house in Buffalo, New York State, at 10.20pm on Thursday, February 12, 2009. 49 people are thought to have perished, 48 on board, and one unfortunate person on the ground.
This plane crash is the first by a commercial flight in the U.S. in two and a half years. Unfortunately, that doesn’t make it any less tragic for the people who died, or their friends and family.
There’s one particularly poignant and tragic story being reported. One of the victims, a Mrs Eckert, was the widow of a 9/11 victim. Her husband, Sean died in the World Trade Center when terrorists flew planes into the massive building.
As if losing one family member to a tragic and very public incident wasn’t bad enough, that family has just another. My thoughts go out to the Eckert family, as well as the families of all the other victims.
