In a slightly strange juxtaposition, Rickey Henderson has made it into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year on the ballot and Jim Rice has also made it to the Hall on his last attempt.
While I’m sure Henderson is grateful to be in the Hall of Fame – and on his first attempt, no less – I bet he can’t help but wish he’d had those mere twenty-eight votes more to become the first unanimous pick.
Tom Seaver keeps his seat keeps his seat as the man who came closest, with only five votes needed for him in 1992 to get the first unanimous vote.
