CERN Large Hadron Collider (Video) | An Inside Look At The End Of The World?

27 sec read

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is a scientific centre based in Geneva, Switzerland. It’s where the World Wide Web was born, and much more besides.

The organization’s work is primarily focused on studying the origins and workings of the Universe, and to that end, a Large Hadron Collider (the largest ever) has been built 100 metres below ground.

The LHC is going to be used to test the Big Bang Theory, which some believe was how our universe was born. But there are fears that these tests could result in the end of the world.

Testing has begun today, with the LHC expected to be running at full capacity within the month. Time to break out the foil helmets and nuclear bunkers then. Oh, and keep your fingers crossed.
