Charleston Earthquake Video | Charleston S.C. Gets Hit By A 3.6 Richter Scale Quake

32 sec read

This morning saw the residents of Charleston, South Carolina, get woken up by the rumbling of an earthquake underneath their feet. Luckily, no-one was injured and no damage was done.

Charleston S.C. was hit by an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter Scale, which isn’t a very big one. The town isn’t always so lucky though, as it was hit in 1886 by a 7.3 magnitude earthquake that killed 100 people and caused widespread damage to property.

These kinds of earthquakes may be small and quite insignificant when measured against the huge ones experienced in China, Japan and the United States own California but it would have still scared the living crap out of people experiencing it for the first time.

I’m just glad I live in the UK where earthquakes are very rare and very minor. Britain did experience a magnitude 5.2 earthquake in February, 2008 but it didn’t even manage to spill my cup of tea.
