When 80s weeks rolled around on Australian Idol, 17-year-old schoolkid Chrislyn Hamilton’s song choice was easy. “True Colors” has always been one of those songs that meant something to her. But she never imagined the original singer, Cyndi Lauper, would be appearing on the same show!
If Chrislyn had any apprehensions about singing this song with its definitive singer present, she didn’t show them. She gave her own version, tender, genuine, and brimming with emotion.
This performance showed a new side to the girl we’ve come to know through her big personality, big presence, and big voice. This vulnerability was incredibly endearing, and something that will no doubt carry her through to the next round!
