Television personality Chrissy Teigen opened up about her relationship with alcohol in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan. In the open and frank interview, Teigen revealed that she did not like her behavior.
The revelation about her relationship with alcohol came after she attended a retreat in Bali with husband John Legend and daughter Luna.
“I was, point blank, just drinking too much,” she said. “I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for John, for anybody.”
Teigen admits that she’s afraid she won’t be able to quit drinking cold turkey, mainly because it’s difficult not to drink in LA. Alcohol, she says, comes with the A-list lifestyle.
The mother-of-one says she can’t just have one drink and revealed that her family has a history of alcohol abuse.
Teigen, who is also taking medication for anxiety and postpartum depression, says alcohol is the “least thing that helps.”
The 31-year-old star says that her perspective on drinking is changing.
“I used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober, but now I get it,” she said. “I don’t want to be that person…I have to fix myself.”
Teigen’s open interview comes at a time when she and husband John Legend are going through IVF again to have a second child. The family of three has taken several vacations this summer because Teigen says they know they have a difficult road ahead.
