For shame Christina Aguilera, for shame. The R’n’B singer and sometimes actress disgraced herself at this year’s Superbowl when she botched the American national anthem.
About a minute into the performance she misses the lyric “O’er the ramparts we watched,” substituting it for “What so proudly we watched.” Sorry Christina, but that just doesn’t fly.
Americans sing “The Star Spangled Banner” from their earliest days in school, so flubbing a line is pretty unforgivable. I’d suggest nerves may be the culprit, but Christina’s no stranger to big performances.
It’s probably a bit harsh to call her unpatriotic. Let’s just get someone else to do the job next year.
