Clayton is the largest manufacturer of modular homes in the U.S. today, having built 1.5 million homes since the company was founded in 1934. But it isn’t resting on its laurels, recently unveiling its new eco-friendly home called the i-House.
The video above doesn’t show the i-House, because it’s just too damn new to have any video footage available, but it does show how a Clayton Homes modular house is delivered to the plot of land being used.
The new i-House is being promoted as 30% more energy-efficient than a traditional home, reducing the carbon footprint of your dwelling substantially. What makes them so eco-friendly are the solar panels, tankless water heaters, and low-flow taps.
At $74,000 and $93,000, these homes offer first-time buyers a way of owning their own home in this recession. And they’ll also be doing their bit for the environment too. The only question now is whether Apple will sue over the whole “i” thing.
