Today is the tenth anniversary of the Columbine High School Massacre which saw student gunmen, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, kill twelve students and one teacher, as well as injure countless others.
Columbine remains the bloodiest attack at any high school, although many other similar incidents have taken place in U.S. schools since. Hopefully the lessons learned and precautions put in place will prevent a tragedy on quite this scale happening again.
Even a decade after the shootings there is still confusion as to the cause and time line of the event. Were the killers really bullies on a revenge mission seeking out jocks? Or was it more random display of power prior to taking their own lives?
Whatever the truth, Columbine is entrenched in pop culture in the same way 9/11 is. Today marks a decade since the incident happened and all we can really do is remember the victims and their families.
