Conan O’Brien was recording a segment for his show on Friday when he took a tumble, banged his head on the studio floor, and suffered a concussion. After a trip to hospital, he was given the all clear and is now able to look back and laugh at the incident.
Which is exactly what he did during the taping of Monday’s show. He recalls the incident, which happened at the end of a triathlon between him and Teri Hatcher, and even shows the footage of him being injured.
As you can see from the Conan O’Brien injury video embedded above, the Tonight Show host managed the stairs fine but slipped when he tried to cross the shiny studio floor. He came down hard and the back of his head hit the floor with a thwack.
O’Brien actually showed himself to be a trooper, wanting to carry on with the show regardless of his injury. But this could have actually been a lot worse. A concussion is bad enough but head injuries can lead to coma and even death in some cases.
Conan had a lucky escape.
