There aren’t a lot of congressmen who seem to care about the issues that they are voting on. Anthony Weiner, on the other hand, has a personal issue with the 9/11 healthcare bill. The district he represents includes southern Brooklyn and south central Queens.
Since the attacks of September 11th, many of the veteran firefighters and policemen who suffered health problems from doing their job have not received any government assistance. The heated clip above seems to be an appropriate reaction to that.
While many conservatives are dismissing this as a “political stunt,” I can’t see why Anthony would risk his political career over it. “You vote ‘yes’ if you believe it’s the right thing to do” seems like a logical statement, yet there are an overwhelming amount of Republicans that aren’t saying ‘yes.’
It’s almost been a decade and we still have scars from 9/11. Isn’t it time to change that?
