Lady Gaga is the Queen of Shock Pop, so it might be surprising that this video is courting controversy. Seeing her dressed in a nun’s habit provocatively sucking on rosary beads, and cavorting with half naked men might be scintillating, but in the modern world is it really scandalous?
Personally, I might have been more surprised if Madonna hadn’t done all this decades earlier. The kids might not remember the groundbreaking clips for “Erotica,” “Vogue,” and “Like a Prayer,” but those of us who do won’t be impressed by this imitation.
