The theremin is a strange yet wonderful instrument that is played by manipulating the air around it rather than actually touching it. The instrument works by registering where your hands are in relation to two antennas, and then producing the relevant sounds.
It’s known as a cult instrument, mainly because it isn’t used much in the real-world of music, with only the most avant-garde performers even attempting to play it.
