Have you ever wondered why your dogs have floppy ears? I’m guessing you probably haven’t. However, Charles Darwin did, and so have many scientists since.
These educated people wanted to figure out why pet dogs have floppy ears when wild dogs and wolves had pointy ears. The possible answer is quite complicated.
It all comes down to domestication syndrome, which shows how animals have changed through being domesticated. And that’s probably because of lower levels of neural crest cells.
