A plane traveling from Belfast in Northern Ireland to Cork Airport in the Republic of Ireland has crashed with 12 people on board. Six have been confirmed dead while the other six are all being treated for injuries.
The airport was reportedly shrouded in thick fog and the plane was making its third attempt at a landing when the poor visibility caused it to crash. Debris from the crash has been spread over a large area and the airport and surrounding roads have been closed as a result.
Northern Ireland’s First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness both expressed their condolences for those involved in the crash and their families.
