Crazy Spanish Game Show Video | Running Beats Walking On Water

37 sec read

This clip is taken from a Spanish game show called Científico Loco– literally meaning “crazy scientist.” But judging by the way this guy runs over the pool, I’d say “gay” is more appropriate.

Nevertheless, he’s found out Jesus’s secret. Kind of…

At first glance, it appears that this man has figured out a way to run on a murky pool of water. Unless you know Spanish, the crazy scientist’s explanation for this phenomenon seems pointless; but as it turns out, the magic of physics (not actual magic) has made it possible for him to do this.

The secret comes from the liquid in the pool, whose viscosity changes in proportion to the force applied to it. The scientific term for this is a non-Newtonian mixture. In this case they used twice as much cornstarch as water to achieve this effect (which would explain the white color).

As long as he runs quickly across the pool, he won’t fall. However, if he walks or doesn’t move at all (as seen at 1:42) he will sink. Crazy indeed.
