Super Bowl ads are big business, with airtime costing millions, and the ads needing to be memorable in order to stand out.
This one, titled Finger Cleaner, is the hot favorite to win this year’s ‘Crash The Super Bowl’ contest held by Frito-Lay. It’s definitely memorable. And funny. But is it just too damn creepy for primetime TV?
This may only be a 30-second ad but it has lots of layers. Watching one man lick Doritos dust off another man’s finger is cringeworthy enough, but think of that opening in the wall as a glory hole and the cringe is maximized.
I cannot see Frito-Lay going with this ad, purely on the grounds of decency. Then again it’s sure to be a talking point, and isn’t that the idea?
