This is the tale of Lucky, a disabled penguin living at the Santa Barbara Zoo. When zookeepers noticed the little Humboldt penguin had a gammy foot, zoo sponsor Teva came to the rescue.
The footwear company devised a customized teeny tiny penguin shoe to help Lucky walk. Soon he was shuffling along like a penguin pro, as if he’d been walking with the special shoe all his life.
Sadly, as the Teva spokesperson notes, the shoe is a little informal for a creature wearing a permanent tux. But I’m sure those female penguins won’t mind. Lucky is a real cutie!
