Dutch airline KLM now employs a dog named Sherlock to return lost items to their owners. Which makes me want to not only take one of their flights, but purposely lose something on the plane.
This video shows Sherlock — so called because he’s a dog detective — in action, as he is handed a lost and found possession and let loose on the concourse in order to find its owner.
This is made possible by Sherlock’s ability to track smells. So, he’s given a whiff of the item that needs to be returned, and can then follow that scent right back to the rightful owner.
This makes a nice change from dogs being used to sniff out drugs, and it’s a much more heartwarming story than the usual ones that do the rounds.
