Daniel Tammet is once again in the news as he’s the subject of a special edition of 20/20 looking at SuperHumans. But this isn’t the first time this British savant has shown off his skills.
This video shows Tammet talking to David Letterman on The Late Show. He explains a little about his abilities, and how he came by them. And then determines the day Letterman was born on just from the date.
Tammet is a savant who can see, feel, and visualize numbers and figures. It’s thought that his superhuman abilities were brought out when he suffered seizures caused by epilepsy as a young child.
There are about 25 savants in the world, and Tammet is one of them. I think it would freak me out to meet one though, as they are essentially an evolutionary step ahead of the rest of us. Which is amazing, but slightly freaky.
